lily

i felt this beauty deserved her own post.

part of the series of crowns i made for the art attack show here in willimantic.  the series was based on the anunciation. this is the lily, representing mary.

it’s really got a nice isabella blow vibe to it, the whole non-functional super modern hat thing. it’s best on someone petite, the proportions are quite lovely. with a nice chignon and some pins, it should stay in place all night!

it is made of brass almost exclusively. the center stone is a vintage lemon crystal and has brilliant color. the green stones are peridot, and the red garnets.

i hope someone decides they have an occasion to wear this. smaller ones are in the works, on headbands and barrettes, and possibly a brooch. as much as i love extravagance, i do realise that in MOST peoples’ day to day lives, they are willing to take only smaller risks. baby steps, i say, baby steps. :)
